NEW! [May 1 2008]
All chicks are in the coop, sleeping right under the camera. Keep an eye out! They come out during the day.

[Mar 23 2008]
Chicks received just in time for EASTER weekend!! Final counts are: Polish (5), White Silkies (5), Bard Rock (10), Silver Wyandottes (5), Light Brahamas (5). They're fun to hold, but will likely grow quick!

[Feb 12 2008]
Baby chickens are on their way. There are TWENTY FIVE on order, including 5 Whie Silkies, 5 Light Brahamas, 5 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 5 Blue Orpingtons, and 5 Auracanas.

[August 10 2007]
Some "fancy" new young chicks have arrived!! We have three new black silkie's that are soft-feathered and full black. Two are hens and one is a rooster. They are about 6 weeks old and are the best tempered! Kids love 'em!!

[March 3 2007]
All the babies have been placed in the coop. Checkout the cardboard box where they stay most of the day. You may notice a baby chick or two venture out to get food or water!

[March 2007]
Yes...!!! It's FINALLY back online. The chicken camera is now hooked up for all to view. Click HERE to view a live snapshot from our chicken camera. (Sorry, the ability to control the camera is still unavailable).

[February 2007]
The babies have arrived! On Feb 2nd we picked up SIXTEEN baby chicks that were just about 10 days old. They won't be added to the rest of the crew for a while longer. This new set of chicks includes 8 Araucanas, 6 bard rock, and 2 leghorns.

[January 2007]
Smart chickens! They've been finding a way into the HUMAN side of the coop! We installed hinged door adjactment to the feeders to keep chickens out. On another note, coming soon we'll be adding some baby chicks to the mix. Keep checking back here for updates!

[December 2006]
Installed 24-hour bug light to keep down the flies and other pests in the coop.

[October 2006]
Our network is currently under construction. Due to network firewall issues most of the LIVE content from the web site is unavailable until further notice.

[August 2006]
Over the past month egg production has returned to full strength. The chickens are very happy with their newly cleaned coop and thankfully survived the summer heat, even though other local farms lost numerous poultry.

[March 2006]
NEW ARRIVALS! We've added FIFTEEN baby chickens to the mix. They were just placed from their safe chick home into the rest of the mix. They're hard to see as they're directly below the camera. But around high noon they come out for food. Keep an eye out!

[October 2005]
Production has lessened as the chicks get ready for winter. A new center perch was added and light automatically comes on to add additional daylight hours.

[August 2005]
Summer egg production has hit its peak. Sweltering days are minimized by automatic sprinklers wetting the field down with cool water.

[June 2005]
The chickens are going thru their yearly cleansing of insects via natural means. Most all commerical egg producing facilities use pesticides, but we have found other more natural means are just as effective and have no residual effect on the eggs. By using crushed egg shells, soap and natural oils the chickens are rid of those pesky ants, fleas and mites in a flash!

Chicken JOKE: What do chickens grow on?
ANSWER: Eggplants!

[March 2005]
We've added EIGHT new baby chicks to the mix! This includes four Silver Wyandottes which lay brown eggs and four Araucanas which generally lay blue but sometimes green eggs. More info on chick breeds can be found HERE. These new babies were born right around March 1st and should start laying within nine months of hatching, assuming they're hens (99% chance) and not roosters.

[January 2005]
JOKE for the new year: How does an egg run??
ANSWER: It scrambles!!

[December 2004]
Laying has slowed and we've instituted an egg laying database to keep track of the chicks' egg laying progress.

[October 2004]
Checkout the newest camera presets on the camera control page. You can jump to locations with a simple click!

[September 2004]
WE ARE LIVE!!! Checkout the 12-hour chicken webcam. With the proper password you can control the camera.

[July 2004]
Good news: We're putting in CAT5 networking into the chicken coop shortly. Soon enough we'll be able to actually see the chickens laying via the web.

[June 2004]
WE'RE LOOKING FOR CARTONS!! If you save and bring back 10 egg cartons we'll give you one dozen eggs free!! (limit one dozen free per month).
